parents/caregivers. Play is the center of activity here with a playground and educational toys specifically hand-crafted to meet the developmental needs of the children. Being the first of its kind in the world, this group takes great pride in sharing the Tahan-Tahanan to patients and their families which was made possible by its organizers, donors, and volunteers to leave this legacy, by making a difference and live a life with meaning and significance.

As part of the annual donation from FAC-WNC, the 2010 Officers had their task cut out for them as they chose a significant charity to donate to. This year, the decision was unanimous, to donate 20,000 pesos to an organization who’s main objective is to help children of the Philippines who suffer from various non-communicable diseases, Tahan-Tahanan. In February 2011, one of our Board Directors, Mr. Rem Navarro, on a visit back home, was able to personally deliver this gift to Dr. Ma. Victoria M. Abesamis, the director of Tahan-Tahanan.

The Tahan-Tahanan is a halfway home for children with non-communicable diseases and their family/caregivers who

come from the provinces and seek treatment in Metro Manila hospitals. It is the realization of a much-awaited dream of the pediatric oncology team headed by Dr. Ma. Victoria M. Abesamis. This team is composed of pediatric oncologists, nurses, psychologists, Family Life and Child Development specialists, teachers, musicians, artists, parents, patients, and volunteers. Their primary objective is to provide the best quality holistic care for these children.
